STARGIVERS INITIATIVE: BACKPACK DRIVE #2

On September 9, 2021, we began our backpack drive project for the second time! We asked for any used or new backpacks from our community, so that we could fill them up with food, water and snacks to advocate healthy eating for school.

According to Breakfast Clubs of Canada, when children get a balanced meal in a positive, stimulating environment, there are marked improvements in behaviour and concentration, academic performance, social skills, self-confidence, and overall interest in subjects taught.

On September 21 and 23, after receiving a total of 14 backpacks, our team members began fill up the bags! We bought $250 worth of items including canned foods, granola bars, bread, fruit bars, kraft dinner, cartons of bottled water and more!

In the morning of September 24, we donated all 14 backpacks to the community fridge outside of Carmichael Outreach!!! This marks our 12th donation!!!
